On Feb. 18, the Edina Girls’ Hockey team beat Eastview 1-0 in the class AA quarterfinal game of the State Tournament.

The game remained scoreless for the first two periods, but with seven minutes and 44 seconds left to play in the third, Emily Oden scored the much-needed game winner, earning her 19th goal of the season. “It was such a greatfeeling to finally put one away, but we all knew they weren’t giving up [and would] come back hard trying to put one in. Anna Goldstean played amazing and was able to hold our lead,” said Oden.

Edina outshot the Eastview Lightning 35-17.

The Hornets advance to play Eden Prairie, their conference rivals, in the semifinals at the Xcel Energy Center on Feb. 19 at 6:00. The teams have met twice this season, with Eden Prairie winning 1-0 in early January and Edina winning 2-1 in overtime later that month.

“We are all pretty excited for tonight. I think everyone got most their nerves out last game and are ready to take on EP. We know what we have to do and if we do that, I think we will be in good shape. It’s definitely going to be a battle though,” said Oden.

The student section cheered loudly “Where is Eastview?” towards the end of the game in their coordinated preppy outfits.
