Emma Crosby, an Edina resident and junior at Edina High School, recently defeated an Olympian to bring home the silver medal at the 2012 Snowboard Nationals in Copper Mountain, CO.
Crosby, 16, won the silver medal in the Open Class Rail Jam event, which included Olympic Snowboardcross and Slopestyle rider Faye Gulini. Gulini is also a member of the world championship team.
“It was such an honor just to be in the same competition as Faye and honestly just made it that much more fun. “ Crosby said. “It was nice being able to finally use everything I’ve been working on this year in the competition”.
2013 was Crosby’s fourth year competing at U.S. Nationals and her second year in the Open Class. She also competed in Slopestyle, finishing 14th overall in the event. In 2011 she won nationals in her age group.
Crosby also recently competed internationally at both Canadian Nationals and snowboarding’s Rev Tour. She is a member of Minnesota’s G Team and regularly practices at Hyland Hills. She is sponsored by K2, Summit Boardshop and Dragon Goggles.
Outside of snowboarding, Crosby is also active on the varsity soccer team at EHS.

It’s cool to see one of your fellow classmates succeeding in activities outside of school. I’m sure it was good to put all that training to use at nationals and win a medal.
